JENN STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC INTERVENTIONS THROUGH TERMLY MATERIAL REVIEW PROGRAMME

JENN Training and Consultancy conducts a Materials Review Programme every term in partnership with the Free State Department of Education and the Eastern Cape Department of Education. The programme forms an important part of preparations for the Autumn, Winter and Spring Classes, ensuring that each intervention is supported by relevant, targeted and curriculum-aligned academic materials.

The programme brings together JENN subject coordinators and provincial subject coordinators from each respective province to review and specially design materials according to the academic needs and priorities of learners in that province. This approach ensures that the materials respond directly to identified learning gaps, curriculum priorities and areas requiring targeted academic support.

During the review sessions, subject coordinators analyse the content to be covered during the upcoming intervention, identify areas in which learners require additional support, and jointly refine the materials. The process ensures that the content, activities and assessments are appropriately structured to strengthen conceptual understanding, curriculum coverage and examination preparation.

The Materials Review Programme covers Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, Geography, Accounting, Agricultural Sciences, and other priority subjects identified for support in each province.

For the Free State, the Materials Review Programme was conducted from 5 to 6 August 2026, with JENN subject coordinators and Free State provincial subject coordinators reviewing and specially designing materials in preparation for the Spring Classes. The process focused on ensuring that the materials respond to the province’s identified academic needs and priorities.

The Eastern Cape Materials Review Programme followed from 27 to 28 August 2026, bringing together JENN subject coordinators and Eastern Cape provincial subject coordinators. The materials were reviewed and specially designed to address identified learning gaps and provide focused academic support to learners as they prepare for their final examinations.

Conducting the Materials Review Programme every term ensures that the Autumn, Winter and Spring Classes are supported by materials specifically designed to address the academic needs of learners in each province. The collaboration between JENN Training and Consultancy and the respective provincial Departments of Education strengthens the quality and relevance of academic interventions and supports the shared commitment to improved teaching, learning and learner performance.
