Early Childhood Development Leadership and Management Capacity Building Training.

Marematlou Training Institute (MTI) offered Leadership and Management capacity building training to 30 Early Childhood Development (ECD) practitioners registered under the National and Advocacy Free State Forum (NAFS) at the MTI campus in Bloemfontein on the 16 – 17 August 2023. The ECD Practitioners who participated in this training were from selected ECD centers situated in the Motheo district. These ECD Practitioners were led by Mrs. Keta and Mr Monyane who have shown a great interest in the upliftment and enhancement of knowledge for ECD Practitioners.

The ECD capacity-building training was centered around the following aspects:

Providing ECD practitioners with skills that will enhance their leadership and management of ECD centers.
To sharpen their knowledge on management of their Financial, physical, and human resources.
Skills pertaining to learner profiling.
Employing co-curricular activities and extra-curricular activities in their respective centers.
Dealing with Conflict.
Mentoring.
Communication.

The training was facilitated by Dr Binduko, focusing on Leadership and Management. The theoretical aspect was followed by the practical activities that enabled the participants and the facilitator to get a clear picture of the application of knowledge gained and to measure the understanding of the content taught.

Students’ reflections were used as a strategy or yardstick to measure participants’ satisfaction. Through these students’ reflections, it was evident that the training served its intended purpose, and it has indeed created positive relations between MTI and the NAFS Forum. Mrs. Keta and Mr. Monyane also committed to ensuring that the skills gained by participants who attended the training will be transferred to other ECD practitioners who did not manage to attend the training. On the last day of training, students received attendance certificates.

MTI would like to thank the NAFS forum for entrusting its Institute to provide training to its members. It is through these types of collaborations that institutions can assist with impactful and meaningful training to support, enhance, and ensure that ECD center practitioners are uplifted and provided with skills that may elevate their centers to “CENTERS OF EXCELLENCE”.
