Induction of Participants for SADTU Leadership and Management Programme
Training Dates: 27–29 October 2025 | Free State & Northern Cape Provinces
The South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (SADTU), in collaboration with the Marematlou Training Institute (MTI) through Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP-SETA), successfully commenced the induction of participants for the SADTU Leadership and Management Programme. The induction sessions are taking place from 27 to 29 October 2025 across the Free State and Northern Cape provinces.
This flagship initiative aims to equip union leaders, school managers, and education practitioners with critical leadership and management competencies that enhance effective governance, strategic thinking, and organisational performance within the education sector. The programme underscores SADTU’s continued commitment to building ethical, visionary, and transformative leadership within the union and the broader education community.
Purpose of the Induction
The induction is intended to serve as an orientation platform to:
- Introduce participants to the objectives, structure, and expectations of the Leadership and Management Programme.
- Clarify the roles of the key stakeholders SADTU, MTI, and ETDP-SETA in implementing and supporting the training.
- Create a shared understanding of the programme outcomes, assessment processes, and professional development opportunities available through the initiative.
- Foster collaboration, networking, and mutual learning among participants from diverse educational backgrounds and regions.
During the induction, representatives from ETDP-SETA, Marematlou Training Institute, and SADTU provincial offices addressed the participants, emphasising the importance of leadership development in transforming education delivery and management in schools. Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to strengthen their professional capacity and reaffirmed their commitment to upholding SADTU’s principles of solidarity, democracy, and continuous learning.
The Marematlou Training Institute, as the accredited training provider, outlined the curriculum framework, delivery methodology, and assessment procedures that will guide the training programme. Participants were encouraged to engage actively, share experiences, and translate acquired skills into practical strategies that will benefit their schools, districts, and communities.
The induction marked the beginning of a transformative journey for SADTU leaders and members who will be participating in the Leadership and Management Programme. Through the continued partnership between SADTU, Marematlou Training Institute, and ETDP-SETA, this initiative reaffirms the shared vision of empowering education professionals to lead with integrity, innovation, and accountability.
