SMT Leadership and Management Programme Certification Ceremony by Marematlou Training Institute
Marematlou Training Institute proudly celebrates the achievements of education leaders from across the 12 districts of the Eastern Cape Province who have successfully completed the School Management Team (SMT) Leadership and Management Programme.
The certification ceremonies are being held across the province’s four Provincial Teacher Development Institutes (PTDIs) namely: Mthatha, Queenstown, East London, and Nelson Mandela Bay marking a momentous occasion in the continued professional growth of school leaders in the Eastern Cape.
This comprehensive leadership and management programme is accredited by the Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA) and endorsed by the South African Council for Educators (SACE), carrying a total of 72 credits. The programme was designed to empower principals, deputy principals, and Heads of Departments with the essential leadership and management competencies to strengthen school functionality and advance quality education delivery.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in intensive training sessions focusing on strategic leadership, governance, instructional leadership, mentoring, financial planning, and policy implementation. The combination of theory and practice provided school leaders with practical tools to enhance teaching and learning outcomes, promote accountability, and cultivate a culture of continuous improvement in their institutions.
Marematlou Training Institute commends all participants for their dedication and commitment to professional growth. The Institute also expresses sincere appreciation to the Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDOE) and the ETDP SETA for their collaboration and support in delivering this impactful initiative.
The successful completion of the SMT Leadership and Management Programme marks not only an individual milestone for each participant but also a collective step toward strengthening educational leadership across the province. As certified school leaders, graduates of this programme are now better equipped to lead with vision, integrity, and purpose, contributing meaningfully to the transformation of education in the Eastern Cape.
This celebration stands as a testament to the province’s unwavering commitment to developing competent, ethical, and transformative school leaders who can drive sustainable improvement in the education system.
