JENN continues to make a difference through Corporate Social Initiatives.
The aftereffects of a life changing pandemic will still be felt years after it has come to pass. And this is no different for what Covid-19 has done in our societies. It has attacked our societies to the core and has once again emphasized the dissimilarities that might have been previously prevalent in our communities. And unfortunately, in a developing country such as South Africa its aftermath is seen through increased exclusion, inequalities and other factors.
In accordance with BEE Act 53 of 2003, Corporate Social Responsibilities were formalized through Corporate Social Investment guidelines. This was setup by the government in a quest to promote CSR activities, though they are loosely regulated by the above mentioned act.
JENN Training and Consultancy, through its work in the Eastern Cape, has taken to heart many such instances of deprivation. Since the latter months of 2020, JENN has been involved in many projects in an attempt to alleviate these pressures, that go to the extent of limiting access to schooling for many of our learners.
It is through our partnership with the office of the MEC: Education (Eastern Cape), Mr Fundile Gade, that we were once again able to donate items such as: school bags, stationary packs, water bottles, school shoes, scarfs as well as sanitary towels to 100 learners across 4 schools in Amathole West. Over and above this, food Parcels were also handed over to the parents/guardians of these learners.
The event hosted in Peddie on 17 June 2022, also created an opportunity to provide some motivation for the matriculants from the involved schools that are due to sit for their National Senior Certificate examinations from end of October. The matriculants were also given school bags with bottles and stationary packs, scarfs and study tip booklets to help ease through what’s remaining of their basic schooling careers.
The schools involved in this initiative were: Fundani High School, Thubalethu High School, Kama High School and Nathaniel Pamla all from Amathole West Education District.
